Accommodation Fire Protection Onboard System on Microcontroller (MCU)
Abstract
Fire Protection door are special installation equipment found onboard which provide protection and minimizes the effect of fire by means of barrier. This will give a protection to other compartments and prolong the fire spread. Standard fire protection door is installed with self-closing overhead closer which make the door in ‘normally close’ condition. That means, component gives negative respond to allow the door to self-close even if somebody opens it. Generally, fireproof door consists of door leaf, hanging device (hinges) and closing device. The main objective of this paper is to improve the design with effective self-hold and close fireproof door, and application of microcontrollers unit (MCU) based system on Fireproof Door. By using PROTEUS 8 Professional for simulation and coding by PIC C compiler, the system is constructed, and function test is simulated. The output of hex file coding in PIC C compiler is loaded into MCU (PIC16F84A) in Proteus 8 professional. Respectively, the system is to improvise the operation of opening and closing of fireproof door which allow free flow access in normal safe condition and shut the door in an event of fire with additional shut down to necessary equipment. Besides, it is to ensure the operation of these fireproof door meet SOLAS requirement.
